Watched so many TV shows on so many channels about BBQ. And there seems to be this four way competition for "home of best Q" Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and KC. Quality aside (I don't think with the differences in recipes, the quality thing can ever be settled), what is KC's basis for best? I know there are about 100 places you can buy delicious Q in KC. And I think the American Royal competition happens there annually. Is that the extent of it? I really, REALLY want to come to KC to have some extreme Q-ing.

Burnt ends and baked beans set ours apart from other areas. The American Royal competition is a testament to how popular back yard bbq here is, chances are everyone here has a neighbor/brother/coworker/whatever who can make some BBQ that rivals or beats the main restaurants in town.

The sauce you'll find here is typically more of a thick sugary sauce (think KC Masterpiece), similar to what you'll find in Texas. In the Carolinas and Tennessee it's usually a more of a vinegar based sauce that I personally am not a fan of.

KC's football and baseball teams have fallen on hard years. But at least you have one of the most DELICIOUS competitive events. I'd rather go to American Royal than the World Series.

Football here is about the tailgating more than anything, which is about giant parking lots full of BBQ.

Well, those would be some nice aromas. Hope the teams don't have to breathe that and THEN play football.
