Does anyone who lives in KC know how much damage was sustained by surrounding buildings to the JJ Restaurant explosion? I lived in KC in the 1980's and love the Plaza area. I had considered moving back to that general area for retirement. Anyway, it's sad to read about the terrible explosion in the Plaza and the victims. Does anyone know how badly surrounding buildings were damaged? The KC Star doesn't have too much info beyond the explosion itself.

That three-story building next door will need repairs. But otherwise most buildings are just replacing broken windows.

Good to hear. I was worried that the surrounding area would be damaged and need more repairs. I hope they can get the debris cleaned up and start rebuilding. The Plaza is a lovely area.

Wasn't there a thread about demolishing part of the Historic Plaza and developing it? Anyway looks like a little window of opportunity opened up.
Will this help or destory the Plaza?
