I'm moving to the area soon and I've been calling places and everyone seems to have contracts with local internet providers. Anyone know of any apartments getting google fiber?

There are only a couple hoods on the KC, KS side that actually have it today, one hood is not so great bungalow homes and another is far out suburbia. KC, MO rollout in city core is starting soon and will start in Crown Center and a Midtown hood. No details on which buildings. I do know that Santa Fe Place is getting it soon but that's a condo building in Crown Center.

Here are the hoods on the MO side getting it, with rollout schedule...

I would check with MAC Properties. They have some apartment buildings in the Midtown fiberhood that is scheduled to get hooked up supposedly starting this month.

There is a google sign outside one of their buildings. I don't know for sure if they are behind the sign and will have fiber, or if they have just allowed google to put the sign there.

I talked with MAC and they have 2 buildings getting it soonish..

Clyde manor
Park central

What's the stats for crime in this area? They have no gated parking, and a guy I know says that cars get broken into every hour in kansas city.

I was going to get a loft in North Kansas city..but google has no projected date..

Ahhh, the reliable source of "a guy I know" spreading scary stories about crime.

However, I wouldn't be too surprised if there are 24 car break ins a day. For a metro of 2.2 million (or even of that is just the city of 450,000) that is a pretty small percentage. I've lived around the Midtown area near those MAC apartments for about nine years without gated parking or a garage and I've never had my car broken into. Not to say that it doesn't happen - because it does (it happens in all parts of the metro and in all major cities) - but as long as you don't keep any valuables in sight in your car, you are unlikely get it broken into.

Are the MAC buildings out of parking spots? Because I'm pretty sure those buildings do have gated parking (and it says so on MAC's website). Those buildings are large and well-maintained. I haven't heard of any issues with crime for their tenants.

Liberty Lofts and Anne's Lofts are in the same fiberhood. Union Station gets free GFiber too.
