Is the University of Kansas Medical Center in a ok area(crime/safe)? Also,is University of Kansas main campus in a good area? Is a work commute from St. Joseph,Mo to University of Kansas Medical Center out of the question?

Thanks
Tim

A commute from St. Joe to KU Med would be a long commute. If getting to KU Med is your goal, then you could probably find a good place to live that would be much closer. From a crime standpoint, I would say that KU Med is in a marginal area. I personally would not live in that area, but I go to the area frequently because there are great restaurants on 39th Street. If you are commuting in to KU Med from another area, I doubt that you will have any real problems. The University of Kansas main campus is in Lawrence, which is a great place to live. Safe, progressive, interesting. It is not uncommon for people to commute from Lawrence to KC to work.

I would not recommend commuting from St. Joe. I commute from Leavenworth to KU Med daily for school and it takes anywhere from 40-60 minutes, depending on the time of day. The area around KU Med is not the greatest and I would suggest you look in some of the outlying places like Overland Park or Lenexa before KCK.

I totally agree with what has been posted. It can get very dangerous in that area.
