That's great! Welcome!

I don't think you'll regret spending a little more than you intended, especially since you won't have a mortgage. My biggest regret has been that we were very conservative when we bought our house. In retrospect I can see that it would have been smarter to buy a bigger, more expensive house to begin with. It would have served us better through the years. We only had a 16 month old toddler when we bought our house. Within four years we had two more kids. We always had moving up in mind, but then the kids were in school and we didn't want to uproot them, and property values increased so even a lateral move in the same area would have been so much more expensive than staying put, so we stayed put. If I could do it all again, I'd start out in a newer, bigger, more expensive house.

.....good intentions....but....I'll need a mortgage to buy this McMansion. However, you're right, we have no regrets about buying the house. Sometimes, you see a house where the owner has done all the things that you would have done yourself and you can simply move in an enjoy the house from day1.
