Apparently there have been at least 13 shootings at drivers in one month, and they may be related.

Honestly, unless there's something I don't know, such as shootings at drivers being a normal occurrence, it seems they absolutely are related, even if they're not all by the same shooter of vehicle. I have no idea what's going on, but one thought I have is this could be like the "knockout game", only taken to a whole different level.

The shootings have been reported everywhere from Blue Springs to Lee's Summit to Leawood to just south of the Country Club Plaza. 10 were in Kansas City, MO, and one each was in Blue Springs, Lee's Summit, and Leawood.

I really think everybody here needs to read this article, take the advice it gives, and be aware.

KC police say 13 shootings aimed at drivers in one month could be connected - KansasCity.com

Thanks for posting this link. I don't pay that much attention to local news, so didn't know about all of these. I knew about the Blue Springs one. Definitely didn't know about Leawood or State Line. All but the one at 51st and State Line were on/near highways. The one at 51st and State Line - that is pretty bold to do it there, where there is more traffic and not so easy to get away (although obviously they did get away). Also, the article said the bullet hole was in the window next to where her 3 year old daughter was sitting in the back seat. Scary. I hope it's one shooter and they get him before he kills someone.

They are saying now that at least some of the shootings are connected.

Kansas City police say some highway shootings now connected - KCTV5

Though the circumstances are obviously very different, it does remind me of the DC sniper incident.

Wonder if they have the ability to record the KC Scout cameras. Seems like you could narrow this down to a specific suspect vehicle pretty quickly if they could go back and look at that data. KC freeways are well covered with cameras.

Very scary. I agree with kcmo, hopefully they are studying the film from those cameras. I wonder bout the same thing, if they actually record or are they just live feeds?

Is this separate from that incident a few weeks ago where there were three shootings at gas stations along 71 on the same night?

Probably. While I don't know anything about the individual cases you're talking about, what you described sounds typical. The intentional shooting of cars on the actual highways recently is not typical, at least not to my knowledge.

They have a description of the car from the Leawood incident. Apparently a metallic green sedan and the driver wore a ski mask, glasses, and a hood.

This is why I can't wait for the streetcar. Driving is dangerous!
