We're moving! I notice the crime data is pretty bad for kansas city so I'm in need of opinions regarding the best/safest suburbs to raise my child. There are quite a few sex offenders!

hm, though it isn't much better, sex offender doesn't equal pedophile... northland apparently have a number of offenders but I'd feel safe raising kids up here if I had any

Ok, I have lived here most of the last ten yrs and what I have learned is the following. The majority of the crime comes from the inner city which you will learn to avoid. There are drive-bys, murders, rapes and all sorts of crimes but that is true in any larger city. When I first moved here I was told to live either north of the river aka the northland which separates the good parts and the bad parts of the city pretty much or way out south. Liberty is a nice small town about 30k in population and a growing jessie. It tends to be crowded road wise because of growth but still a nice safe place. Kansas City North in the following zip codes are where it's safest. 64151, 64152, 64153, 61454, 64155, 64156, 64157, 64158, (64118, 64117, 64116 in select areas, not bad areas just less affluent than the other zip codes.) Now, I may have missed a few zip codes but Kearney, MO, Smithville, MO and any portion of Kansas City located in Clay or Platte counties are a wiser choice. I also think that Blue Springs, MO and Lee's Summit, MO are nice areas as well. They are Eastern Jackson county and do very well on various best place surveys. I live in Blue Springs and like it a lot. It's quiet and we often do most of our activities in Independence, MO like shopping and dining. You are also approximately 15 miles from Arrowhead/Kaufmann stadiums. Jackson county residents also get first dibs on season tickets if that's your thing. I also want to had that I have also lived north of the river as well and I feel just as safe here in Blue Springs as I did up north. Hope this helps!
