I do agree with you though, the Downtown OP plans are very nice and CityPlace is just a land/money grab. I sat in for a lot of the city planning meetings for CityPlace, and Block is just out of tune with what people want. Block's original proposal was for more of a Mission Farms style development with retail on the first floor and apartments above, but of course that changed as the design progressed.
If their original proposal was more like Mission Farms, it doesn't sound like they're completely out of tune. Do you know what motivated the change?

As far as I know, the change was made to increase the number of apartments due to building height restrictions, so the retail was moved to a separate line of storefronts.
