I also agree that KC needs a new tower. Now in my opinion.... I would not build a twisty tower. Instead I would build something similar to Lincoln Square in Bellevue Washington. Two towers joined at the bottom with space for retail, restaurants, entertainment, or even a target! One tower could be residential/hotel, while the other could be commercial. It would be a good way to fill up that block.

Any chance we can get a new tower that's neither twisty, nor oppressively boring?

Most likely not. That area of downtown could use some height. The idea I had was to put something that was dense and serve multiple purposes. I don't think we need a KC Live #2, but I do believe we need something that is exciting to visitors/citizens but also provide services that DT residents need. I think ultimately if KC did anything with that space it will most likely be something on a smaller scale. I believe someone has already posted a new rendering of an office building that could fill that spot. It's not too impressive. I really believe they should be bold and add something that helps transforms the skyline. Especially since you're right at the heart of downtown right next to the Sprint Center and PNL district.

I agree. But I was just commenting that it seems like every high-rise built these days is either an uninspiring snooze-monster, built with the same lego set everyone else is using, or it's wacky and unsettling. Oh well.

KC does not get anything. Beggers can't be choosers.

Uhhh, right. Award winning Performing Arts Center most cities would love to have. Also award winning Nelson Art gallery expansion? The Plaza? What's in Brooklyn? Brooklyn is where NYC folks live that can't afford Manhattan.

I think he was referring to high-rises.

Lol. Did I upset some people. Reality check people. There are very few high rises going up in KC and office towers don't get built there at all. What does the Kauffman center and plaza have to do with that. PS, I don't live in Brooklyn anymore, but you might want to educate yourself on NYC a bit more. Brooklyn, Long Island City etc are booming right along with Manhattan. KC,MO is a cool place, but a new office tower still seems like a pipe dream. FYI I'm thinking 25 stories minimum.
