any info on the Shoal Creek valley subdivision?
We are looking to move to KC as I said in an earlier thread and was wondering if people know anything about the Shoal Creek Valley area off of 152 just west of liberty?

They are beautiful subdivions in the Liberty school District. There are 2 phases - a higher end phase $500K, and a slightly cheaper phase $300K-$500K. In the cheaper phase, the home are traditional front porch style homes, all custom with beautiful finish outs. These homes are on very small lots, but there is a fabulous new swimming center/water park that was just finished and will be open for this summer.

What exactly are you wanting to know? There's a ton of new homes in that area. There's also a tidal wave of new shopping and dining options being built in that area. There's supposed to be another two million square foot shopping area just to the west of that development. There's also several more retail developments either in progress or slated like Rogers Plaza (in progress), Liberty Triangle redevelopment (in progress), and Whitehall Station (approved and in planning stage)
Because of all of that, traffic in this area is pretty heavy for a few blocks during peak hours. It's easy to circumnavigate once you learn where all the back roads go. I'd highly recommend that you learn to take Church and Flintlock Roads to access I-35, MO 152, and I-435. If going southbound on 35, get on Church southbound to Pleasant Valley and get on the interstate there. Actually you can go both ways from there. There's a road (can't remember the name of it) that's the first one running west if you take Flintlock south from your subdivision. You can take that to Shoal Creek Parkway and then head north to 152. That will allow you to completely avoid the busiest part of 152 if you need to get on 435.
All of the homes in that area are located in the Liberty school district which is good. The schools near Shoal Creek are all brand new with the exception of the high school and they are state of the art. There's a new high school slated to open in 2010 in the Liberty district. Not sure if the kids in that development will go to the new school or the old one but it makes no real difference as both are/will be excellent.
Here's some area related links (either in Shoal Creek or very close proximity):

Okay, that's it! No more! There are literally dozens, if not hundreds, of area projects and related news. It would take me days to find them all and post them. That should be enough to keep you busy for awhile. Needless to say, if you're curious as to whether this is a good area to invest in property then you need not wonder anymore. It's a can't miss deal.

Update?
Hi, I happened upon your thread and am curious to know if you did indeed end up building in Shoal Creek? My husband and I are very seriously considering that area and am hoping to get a little more information. Does anybody know the name of the elementary school that would serve that neighborhood?

Liberty Oaks is the elementary school. It is right in the slightly cheaper phase (the Village).

What is so great about it? Several people have suggested Shoal Creek to me. I drove through the area and other than opulent homes on a golf course I wasn't sure what is so appealing - considering it seems to be more expensive than other nice areas we looked at. I am looking for a neighborhood of college educated, professional type people with large, private wooded lots and nice interesting homes with character that are not behemoths and are not fixer uppers.

Unfortunately, KC does not have many areas that are heavily wooded, especially north of the river. The woods are more prevalent along the Missouri River. Many neighborhoods are quite cookie cutter. Platte County has many more upscale neighborhoods. Some examples include: Riss Lake, Weatherby Lake, etc.
