I lived in Liberty for 4 months this past summer/fall. It's a very nice town and overall, safe.
We got a rental at Jefferson Park Apartments...I would not recommend it. We went there because we moved without having jobs lined up, and we took the cheapest place that offered 6 month leases. You get what you pay for. If you think you'll be renting for a while, I would definitely recommend the area around the Square, but only because I love town squares.
There's really no "bad" area of Liberty. I can't recall any hotels in Liberty but I think there are a couple of b&bs near William Jewell, and IMO that would be a nice treat.

Liberty is a very nice place. Loads of shopping, dining, movie theater, performing arts theater and about 20 minutes away from the Plaza. As the other poster alluded to, there really are no bad parts of Liberty. There are several hotels, and they are all safe.
Liberty, Missouri MO - Hotels, Motels - See All Discounts . If you are looking for a nice place to rent, I would check out the west side of I35. That is where all of the newer developments are. There are some sections in the downtown district that are a lower rent district and since it is near the college, (William Jewell) you will probably find alot college aged kids. That being said... there are also many nice homes, and nice neighborhoods there as well. We have lived near Liberty for 10 years now. (within 20 miles) and we love it. Liberty is where we go to do all of our shopping. Good luck!
