Correct me please if I'm wrong, but didn't the Golden Ox close a while back?

Voltaire, Bluestem, Farmhouse, Extra Virgin, Port Fonda, La Bodega, Justus Drugstore, Q39. Those are my personal faves.

Ponak's on SW Blvd. I get their standard chicken enchiladas.

Stone Canyon Pizza and Nick & Jake's, both in Parkville. Justus Drugstore, Lulu's Thai Noodle Shop, Cascone's (north) for Italian, though I recently tried Garozzo's in the Rivermarket area, and I thought it was really great. When Cupini's had a northland location, I'd also stop there pretty often, but that location closed.

The Golden Ox had closed, but I thought it was recently re-opened.

Surprised I'm the first to mention...

Arthur Bryant's Barbeque at 18th & Brooklyn.

Burnt ends to eat in the tiny dining room or full slabs to go, which they will wrap up to take even on an airplane -- I served this once as a dinner party in NYC with Gates sauce (previously ordered). Gates will also ship anywhere. Once had a case delivered to a country home in Normandy, France for a KC-themed hoedown.

I agree with Nick and Jake's. We like the one in Overland Park, but there is also one at 50th and Main and the one up north.

Some of our favorite restaurants in Kansas City: Jax's Seafood (Plaza), Kmachos ( Overland Park) & 715 (Lawrence). For BBQ, it has to be Jack's Stack.
