Will you have a car? If yes, all the casinos are pretty close to downtown although there is a bus that runs to the casinos east of Downtown. The casino closest to downtown is the crappiest of them all though (Isle of Capri). The largest casino in KC (and one of largest in the country) is Station Casino. If you just want to play some slots, you probably won't care about all the other stuff and can just go to any of them.

The OP is obviously referring to 7th Street Casino in KCK.

OP, there are two casinos in KCK, the one you refer to and Hollywwod Casino at The Legends. On the Missouri side there are several casinos north of the river, but Station Casino isn't one of them. It has been called Ameristar for many years now.

I believe the local term for that place is "Pile of Debris"

I'd heard "Isle of Crap" but yours is better.
