Default New to area and need Ob/Gyn

Hello,
We are moving to Parkville in about three weeks. We just found out we're pregnant so I will need an OB/GYN right away when I get there.

Does anyone have a Dr that they can recommend with great bedside manner and a personable demeanor? Any and all assistance is very much appreciated,
Thank you!

Hey hey, I recognize that name! Congratulations on both counts, Alexis! As for me, well I'm still right here in northern California; and my better half and I have had our house up for sale since November.

We're going to visit St. Joseph from March 27 to March 31--a pretty quick visit for us. This will be my second visit and my wife's first visit, and we're so excited about looking at a couple of houses while we're there, as well as other St. Joe places like Krug Park, the parkway, and hopefully the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion and the psychiatric museum. Neither of us would exactly object to seeing C-D poster StJoeFanatic and her better half either while we're there, but at her work she needs fewer hours and more pay! So I don't know if we're going to be able to hook up with them or not. So far as I know, their new house is working out really well, and they were largely spared from serious complications during December's big ice storm.

I wish so much that I could help you directly with finding a good pediatrician and OB/GYN in the Parkville area. It's really good you're seeking this info ahead of time, three weeks in advance of your move. Please keep in touch and let all of us know how things go with your move and with getting closer to your due date! C-D poster kareybear, who lives up in Macon (above Columbia) is expecting too! And please give your hubby and family my best!

I live in Lee's Summit but I drive to Overland Park, KS - about 30 minutes to see Dr. Mirablie. I know there are tons of docs closer to home but he is an awesome doc w/ such a good personality. A great practice overall. For Women Only - 913-541-9495. Good luck w/ everything - move and the baby. Makes for an exciting pregnancy!

Northbayeric, good to here from you! I got your message around Christmas and responded, but not sure if you got it? If you happen to be down near KC in March, let me know...

The market is tough now, I am sorry about the house being on the market for so long, but good luck with it! We are in the same boat...yet it's only been about 45 days right now. And I hope that you find a place in St Jo!

rondamarchant, thank you very much!

I did get your message--thanks! You had written that you were leaning away from St. Joe and toward the north KC metro area. I visited Park University in Parkville last September, and it's really neat how the town is situated along the Missouri River. I would have to think you and your DH are going to be very happy there.

Actually, we might try to squeeze in a visit to the KC Zoo during our trip. If we don't see you in March, be assured you and StJoeFanatic will be among the first to know when we make the move back there. Before I forget! When is your baby due? Thank you so much, Ronda, for your input too! Maybe moderator Christina0001 will know something as well.

Anybody else have any recommendations for an OB/GYN? Preferably a female in the North kansas city area?

Thank you!

If all else fails between now and the time you make the move, I have access to the Kansas City metro area telephone book; I can look up some names and locations. Or if you have time to visit a larger public library in your area if there is one, they should have a Kansas City phone book too. At any rate, we'll keep this thread on the front burner.

If I were selecting an OB/GYN in the Northland, I'd choose:

Northland Women's Health Care
5844 N.W. Barry Road, Suite 310
Kansas City, MO 64154
816.741.9122

I've heard great things about many of the doctors there--especially Dr. Abney (but she's on maternity leave herself right now).

Dr. Abney is on maternity leave until St. Patrick's Day.

Yes, I am male but I cannot recommend this office enough. My wife is a patient there and loves it. We are expecting in August and I could not imagine anyone else handling our delivery and appointments.

It is an office of 100% women and they are all very nice and caring

Plus, if you live in Parkville it is only a 10 minute drive.

OK Alexis, among the doctors at this facility, at least some of them have to be accepting new patients! I'll keep my fingers crossed that this info should cinch it for you.
