Default How much to buy a new car?

We are trying to figure out the cost of buying a new car if we live in MO. (Outside of KC to avoid the 1% tax I read about in another post.) Can someone help me understand the cost of sales tax, any other tax, and getting tags on a truck or suv that might cost 30K? Trying to figure out if we should buy before we move.
Thanks.

You don't pay the etax on a car. That's an "earnings" tax. You pay sales tax on a car and the sales tax goes the the city you live in, not where you buy the car.

Just find the car you want for the price you want. You will get screwed if you worry about a little thing like the sales tax difference of 100 bucks while the dealer screws you out of 5k.
