Smile Lake Homes near Liberty Missouri

I am in the process of researching homes (around Lakes) in the Kansas City area...preferrably close to Liberty Missouri. Does anyone know of any nice housing areas around a lake or near to Liberty? I am from the St. Joe Missouri area so am fairly familiar with Liberty but when I do a search on Lake property it brings up a few like Holly lake and Hendron Lake but no info on if homes are built with a view of the lake itself. Any help is appreciated. Thank you kindly.

There's a couple of lake towns in the northland. Lake Weatherby and Lake Waukomis. They're both in Platte County, but not too far away from Liberty. Also, there might be something around the Smithville Reservoir, I don't know for sure. There's a few more lake towns on the south side of the metro, but they would be pretty far from Liberty.

I dont know of any lake communities actually in Liberty. The only lake communited in the Northland that I know of are Waukomis and Weatherby. Waukomis is so small though, it is hard to call it a lake.

Default Lake communities around Liberty

I'm not sure if you're still looking for lake communities around Liberty. One other community that was overlooked was Riss Lake near Parkville. Beautiful area. If you want some serious help looking for lake properties near Liberty, shoot me an email at Modcut- only send e-mail info via a DM to a poster if they request it. Thanksand I'll run some info for you.

Good Luck!

What's the commute between Parkville/Riss Lake area and Liberty like? I'm also considering relocating for job in Liberty and based on research Riss Lake area seems like a good possibility. I've found more listings of interest there than closer to Liberty. Sheral, what else can you tell me about Riss Lake? Some areas seem nice - wooded, etc. - but neighborhoods look like many beige houses one after another - like HOA requires you to have a beige house with a two tone garage door - which is not what I'm looking for.

It's your typical new upscale community. I live close to it and drive by it quite a bit. It just seems to me to be one of those communities where everyone is trying to keep up with the joneses. Some people are in to that but personally Im not.

Im not quite sure also if the Riss Lake area would be the type of Lake Community you are thinking it is. When I think of a house on a Lake, the Riss Lake community doesn't not strike me as being one.

There is also a tiny one just a bit south of Riss Lake called Houston Lake. It is a MUCH different type of Lake Community. It probably isn't anything you are looking for and it is quite small.

I dont really consider Riss Lake a Lake Community with Lake homes. It is more of a housing development with a lake behind it that you can use. Their are no houses on the water and there is very little access to the lake since the lake is in a valley and has hills beside it that are covered with trees.

Weatherby Lake would be my choice and I am strongly considering moving there next year. It is a nice sized lake and you can actually buy a house on the water that has a dock. That's what I consider a lake home.

Okay - kind of off on a tangent but what is a nice wooded community in that vicinity that has nice homes (not necessarily new) with people who are not trying to keep up with the Jones'? I don't care so much about the lake idea but I like the wooded areas. I also am not into keeping up with the Jones but I can afford a home around 400K. Where might I find something like that - between airport and Liberty? At that price am I destined to be in an area of people keeping up with the Jones? I tend to think not so much if it is not a newer area.

You could try areas near Smithville Reservoir (Smithville) in northern Clay County.

For that money, why not buy a house on a 4-5 acres right outside Northland suburbs like up north off Cookingham? Or the Staley area?
