Anecdotally speaking, of course. As we do.
That doesn't surprise me, especially because (as you admitted) this is just anecdotal. But I'd be curious to know why 11th and Grand was so soulless. My guess would be because downtown is focused so heavily on residential and nightlife... it's like they roll up the sidewalks during the day. That doesn't seem like a very stimulating environment, unless the nightlife is the reason you live there.

"I could be wrong here, but it seems like the urbanists on this forum are all fine with the suburbanists having their thing. But the good will doesn't appear to be mutual. Just my take."

It does seem that those who favor a suburban environment on this board do, in fact, seem to take offense to ANYONE wanting to live or work in an urban setting and their mission is to keep KC from developing or redeveloping anything in an urban manner. The suburban development in KC is so pervasive and overwhelming that KC will always be a city with plenty of places to live an work that are suburban, but the days of the 70's-90's where suburbia was the ONLY option for any new development are over. Don't deny those who want to live in an urban environment that chance, and keep KC 20 years behind the national development curve!

Myself and several others couldn't give a rats ass when it comes to whether someone wants to live in suburban or urban KC. We only get involved when the Missouri boosters, who claim the Kansas residents are all biased and all hate Missouri, come on here and do nothing but bash the Kansas side and need to be called out for their hypocrisy.

I quickly learned after moving to KC that the Civil War's remnants don't die easily. Bushwhacker War...still?

A big part of it is middle aged adults that are still stuck in college rivalry mode. I always thought that would be something people would outgrow.

I can only speak for myself here, but I (and several others on this form, I believe) only bash Kansas when it comes to their anti-competitive behaviors which undercut the economic health of the metro as a whole. As I said before, suburbanites can do their thing. Great! But when your thing makes it harder for us to do our thing, we will speak up.

(Especially when your thing will eventually make it harder for you to do your thing, too. If you look around, you'll see that this is already happening.)
