It doesn't surprise me. Their largest demographic of buyers are Boomers and they're struggling to appeal to younger buyers.
Plus, the market is flooded with used bikes and has been for some time. Reality, but unfortunate...

I was reading that the Harley sales chart followed exactly the baby boomer birth chart, just 50 years later ( i.e. when the average boomer, born between 1946 and 1964 turned 50 that is when Harley sales peaked.) Unfortunately for Harley Davidson, that year was 1956+50, which is 2006. It looks like it is all downhill from there as the sales chart goes.

I believe they are moving most of the production to York PA, which is most likely unionized just like the KC plant. This closing is related to their dropping sales, not excessive labor costs. I am not sure why Americans are so anti-union, you need a balance of both pro business and pro labor policies to have a thriving economy. Take away the union jobs and you get a vast wasteland and an opiate epidemic in the areas where no one can get a good job, just look at the interior Northeast and eastern Midwest for an example.

They are going to be building an electric motorcycle in a couple years. I can't see that selling.
