We are new here and are trying to get license plates for our cars. We figured out the horsepower on our vehicles but exactly how much is taxable? That is what their fees are based on. Our cars have 140 HP. Help!

I just moved to Missouri and they have a chart on the state website now listing "Taxable Horsepower". Unless you have an exotic car, you'll probably find it on this chart: http://dorx.mo.gov/mvdl/motorv/liendeal/PassengerCarsSpecifications.pdf (broken link) Trying to figure out using an equation from wikipedia or elsewhere will just lead to confusion and I'm not even sure what algorithm Missouri uses. However, this chart is straight from the horse's mouth!
