It was great! I thought there would be a lot of racism, but I had no incidents. I guess I had been watching too many movies of the south.

![]() KC is sort of-kind of not the south, though. Missouri was very divided during the Civil War... etc., etc.... Kansas was a free state... don't feel like going into a history lesson.. There's some race issues in KC like anywhere, but it doesn't seem too bad. |

I did grow up in the south and I love many thing about it (especially the food, lol).
While Kansas City does have race problems, it is NOTHING like it was where I grew up. Glad you enjoyed it and hope you come again ![]() |

I am still new here, but KC does not seem southern-ish. Southern MO does, but KC does not.

KC is not "southern" at all. I'm not sure where people even get that from.

I moved here from Arkansas. I'd say most areas and people in KC aren't remotely southern, but some places are eerily like the south. You don't have to go five miles outside of town to see strong southern influences. Even some of the suburbs, like Blue Springs, Independence, Raytown, and Belton, remind very me much of the south... in some ways, at least. It could just be the redneck thing. Maybe I intermingle redneck with southern too much, because the term redneck defines Arkansas very well. Anyway, I don't mean to offend anyone who doesn't want to be confused with the south. These are just my observations, coming from the south.

I moved here from Texas, and parts of MO remind me very much of East-Central TX, both in topography and environment and in the general disposition of folks (which I think is a good thing, btw

Being a southerner, KC does not seem southern to me except the friendliness of the people. In fact, they may even outdo southerners in friendliness, but for goodness sake, don't let my mother know I said that.
![]() BTW, people talk as if being "southern-like" would be bad. Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. All cultures have pros and cons. |
