Default Need help- fishing trip for 10 year old.

Hey everyone.
We do a special father/son trip for the 10th birthday and my son's dream is a fishing trip. This is so odd to us because neither of us is the outdoor sportsman type so we don't know where he got this idea. Nevertheless, it's his birthday and we want to make it great. A friend lent us some poles and tackle, but he fishes near Hannibal and doesn't know anything about this area.
Any ideas? We were thinking of renting a boat and taking him out that way instead of fishing from the bank. Can we do that? We have no fishing or boating licenses and don't even know how to go about getting them. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful.
Thanks all!

Go to Walmart or fishing store etc and buy you license. Go online and search for Mo Conservation Dept. Find a conservation area close to you. Stay away from the boats. You want a great fishing trip and without boat experience you might have problems.
Use worms and bobbers. Ask around town or at any bait shop for a place to go.

I don't know the metro area really well yet, but I know there is a nice conservation park on RA between Lee's Summit and Greenwood that has several ponds and lakes that are set up for fishing. You can fish from the bank or on a boat.
