I will be moving to KC in about a month. I will be renting in Overland Park, near 69 and 119th. I have a diabetic cat who requires regular visits to the vet. Can anyone recommend a good vet near me?

Thanks in advance for your help. I will be leaving the best vet I've ever had and hope I can find the same level of care, customer service, and friendliness in KC.

Mission Med Vet is very good, they're in Mission, KS. They're pretty much just emergency & special care, but given your pet's special needs they'd be a great starting place if not for a primary vet for referrals that will best suit you and your pet.

Thank you Keem and smellykat.

Keem: It is always nice to know where the nearest emergency vet is, and your right, they would probably be a good place to go for referrals (based on my cat's condition).

Smellykat: I looked at the Cat Clinic's website and will check it out when I am in town next week. I have never been to a "cats only" vet....seems kind of neat!

There's another cat only vet in Brookside called KC Cat Clinic. I used to go there... they do love cats but their focus is general veterinary care and would refer me to Mission Med Vet for more tests, special care, etc (for a kitty with only one kidney and a heart murmur) or send bloodwork out, which always costs more than when it's done inhouse (it's so much cheaper for even a basic workup when they can do it inhouse!)

I go to Mission Animal Clinic (not to be confused with Mission Medvet). Just a little tiny place but great doctors. Mission Animal Clinic - Mission, KS Mission Animal Clinic, P.A.

It's not especially close to where you are, though, and neither is Mission Medvet.

I have taken my cats to the Cat Clinic of Johnson County and they were okay.

Used to go to Heartland Animal Clinic too and I really loved the vets there. They were two women vets. That's at 7821 Marty, about 79th and Metcalf, so closer to your location. My cat is hyperthyroid and is getting ongoing treatment at Mission Animal Clinic but if I were ever going to switch I'd go to Heartland Animal Clinic. Heartland Animal Clinic Pa - Overland Park, KS

I'm sure there are vets closer to where you'll be living but I know nothing about those vets.

Edit - Just noticed this is an old thread so may not be much help now!
