African American churches in Lee's Summit (Kansas City, Raytown: moving to, community, build)

can anyone recommend a church in Lee's Summit? Preferably with a good youth program?

I haven't heard of one. Everbody just goes to church together for the most part.

Try Concord "Fortress of Hope" Church, a large predomintely African-American congregation. Not exactly in Lee's Summit but it's practically a stone's throw away, literally in the shadow of Longview Lake/Park; located 1/2 mile south of 107th & James A. Reed, or a 1/2 mile west of 109th & Raytown Road, it's pretty close. (The address is 11050 W. Longview Parkway in KCMO).

There are several different ministries and the youth program is not huge, but it's growing.

Well, not in the city but a young, fire bred preacher is Pastor Darron LaMonte Edwards at United Believers Community Church at 7546 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, Mo.

It takes us about 20 minutes to get there but it is well worth the trip. Plus, my church is about to build in South Kansas City at 112th Terrace and Hickman Mills Rd.

Thank you! I looked at the website and read about the church -I sounds like just what we are looking for. We are moving to the area from Portland OR next month and want to find a church..we don't know anyone in the area and hopefully we will meet you then!
