If your job is in Liberty, I can definitely say you'd like either Liberty itself or Independence just to the south. Wonderful, laid-back, friendly people. I lived in Independence for years and have always regretted leaving it.

Of course, if you actually want to be inside KC city limits, you'll have a faster and more crowded life-style but it is still a nice city, just more "city" than the other two.

SK, a question please. I used to live on Quality Hill (910 Penn) before it went "downhill". I've heard that it has been totally re-done and upgraded. Is it also very expensive now?

Find a house you like and find a realtor who will sell it to you. Let the realtor who wouldn't sell you the house cry over her split-commission.

I am a suburbanite (though my dream is to be out on land with dairy cows), but I love the city! I love the performing arts , museums, shops, food......One can enjoy the pros of different settings

Yes you guys are right we found a new realtor that specializes in the urban core and LIVES THERE!! Thanks KCMO I found her through your link!! As for what Skrazzle said about transportation and city development I agree and hope that KC is working on those things especially to maximize the Power & Light development. I am sure with everyone’s tax dollars spent on that you want it built right and with urban development GOOD PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION is a must. It's those comments that I welcome because no city is perfect of course but when others make comments like the people are all drug dealers and you will be shot if you live in the city are just completely ridiculous and just plain dumb. Anyway I just had to vent and I thank all of you for your comments. This site has helped my husband and I a great deal. OOPS now I sound like a testimonial. LOL

That's ridiculous.
Raytown's not much different than any other suburb.
Let's see, I've heard of drive-by's in Leewood, Overland Park, Olathe, several in Lee's Summit... also Belton, Independence, Blue Springs... all since I moved here four years ago.

Yes, KC is know to have a drive-by or two.... every few hours. I'm not a person that's afraid to go into the city and do stuff, though. Actually, I spend as much, if not more time on weekends in the city than I do my local 'burb. Under slightly different work circumstances, I'd live in the city.
