Default Houston to KC

I may be transfered from KC to Houston and was wondering if anyone has ever lived in Houston and now lives in the KC area. Are you glad you moved here and what did you like/ dislike about Houston

I moved from Houston to KC in 2001 and am glad that I did. As a software consultant that has worked for several clients, commutes are very reasonable from the heart of the city as the IT industry is concentrated within 10 miles of the city. Especially good in this age of high gas prices! I liked the mild winters in Houston and the Galveston beaches, but disliked the long distances I drove to visit friends and the interesting places in Houston.

I grew up in KC and now live in Houston. There are good and bad about both. The weather is definately better in Houston, even with the humid summers. Traffic is much worse in Houston. No state or city income tax in TX (7% in KC). Other differences include, much less diversity in KC. Also KC has Casinos, drive-ins, basements, much hillier landscape, and zoning (which makes it look less trashy than some parts of Houston).

I have lived in Houston for 40 years but am considering a move to KC to work for the power company. I'll answer any questions you have about Houston and perhaps you can answer my questions about KC.
