The same will be true between Johnson and Miami County before too long, I bet.
Actually, there is a developing area of massive large lot developments popping up between the fringes of JoCo and intio Miami.

These are brand new developments and I'm not sure what will happen when the denser JoCo sprawl meets the very low density sprawl.

The denser sprawl might jump over the low density stuff.

Same thing is happening in the far flung parts of Jackson and Clay Counties.

Everybody wants to live in the country close to the city, but everybody can't do that.

Well, good for them.

I don't care. I'm patiently waiting for my Royals to start playing.

I always pull for MU when they play KU, but I forgot they even played today.

That's just YOUR perspective because you don't live/hang out in Johnson County. To me, Barry Road seems 10 times further from downtown than southern Johnson County. It all has to do with what you are used to and what area you are familiar with.

Every year I care less and less about the Royals. In 1985 when they won the World Series - wow, that was a great time in Kansas City! George Brett and Bret Saberhagen and Dick Howser - those were the days. I used to be there on opening day every year. They just can't seem to get a decent team going anymore. I still go to games once in a while, because I love the whole ballpark thing even if they aren't winning, but we haven't had much to get excited about for a long time.

Yea, it's been a long time.

But I was there when they were good and have been there through some pretty rough times, although, I really think things are getting better.

Still, we really enjoy going to games, we have season tickets and my kids really enjoy it. The stadium is great and it will be amazing next year. We love to go down to spring training or see the Royals play in other cities, although, we just like MLB in general and we have seen games in a lot of MLB parks, regardless of if the Royals are playing. I would MUCH rather visit Seattle, Denver, Chicago, San Diego, Washington DC, Atlanta etc than Norman, Boulder, etc. I just have zero interest in college sports, although I do watch it sometimes on TV. I like cities, not little college towns. I liked college towns when I was 21 years old.

It doesn't even matter too much that the Royals probably won't go to the playoffs, most teams don't make the playoffs. It's just that the Royals have missed them for many many years now. The Royals are a competitive and entertaining team and on any given night they tend to play at a respectable MLB level. They just don’t win enough of them.

I'm sure all you JoCo fans will jump on the bandwagon when they get good again, just like you jump on and off the Chiefs bandwagon .

Still, we enjoy going to MLB games in KC and all across the country. Just like you are really into KU.

I really don’t care about MU. If they went to the final four, congrats to MU. I probably wouldn’t be any more of a fan of MU.

How would it be legal for JOCO to annex land in Miami County to incorporate it into Overland Park? I really don't think it is possible for a city to skip over a county line for annexation purposes. I read something about a year ago regarding angry residents in southeast JOCO who got annexed by Overland Park and they were quite angry. One of my uncles lives out in the 151st area right near the Overland Park and Olathe city boundaries. Now that area is extremely low density suburban, but is now increasing in density as even more development filters in. I was last out there two years ago so much has probably changed since then even with the severe housing downturn.

Kansas City, MO and St. Joseph both have multicounty boundaries.

Um, I don't think that's a Johnson County thing. There are plenty of Johnson Countians who are fans of the Royals and Chiefs as much as you are, and there are plenty of Missourians who only like the Royals and Chiefs when they are good. In fact, if not for the loyal Johnson County fans, I wonder if we would have a professional baseball or football team. I don't know that there's enough support from the Missouri side alone.

I grew up with baseball because my dad was a big Kansas City As fan and he had the radio on for every game (I don't think the games were televised back then). I still like baseball and we went a lot when the kids were little, but once we had three kids playing softball and baseball, that's what we were doing instead.

Ahh... yes, more proof that people in MO don't care as much about college basketball as people in KS do. I think Mizzou won against the University of Kansas (why on earth do they call it MU and KU instead of UK and UofM or something?) earlier this year, but it was more of a side note.
After lunch, we went shopping, along with bazillions of other people who weren't watching the game. The store was crowded.
The Royals figure to be contenders this year, believe it or not. I think they'll be making a run for the playoffs very soon. It feels good to be able to say that with a straight face for once. The division isn't as lopsided against them as it used to be.

If I were looking for suburbia, I'd pick the 152 corridor for it's proximity to the airport and Zona Rosa. Not too far from Weston and Parkville, both neat little places. Juuust keeping it on subject.

True, but some county residents don't like being told that they will be forced into now being part of the city limits. The city is basically using the power of emminent domain and that means more rules, regulations, and zoning conformities to meet established city requirements. Well, I moved away from JOCO to avoid nonsense like non-stop fast growth and development.
