There is a different feeling. The Northland feels like KC, southern JoCo feels like a suburb in Kansas that could be 200 miles from KC because for the most part, anything KC is out of sight and out of mind out there unless it's time for a road trip to KCI, Worlds of Fun, the casinos, the stadiums or the urban core.

I live in south central JoCo, just north of Miami County, and I love driving up to the city. In fact, food prices are so high in the suburbs that it's worth the drive to City Market once a month, all year round. Fruits and veggies are half the price -- sometimes even less!

Be overly dramatic about how far away KCI is.

Also, what are your thoughts of schools. Private christian or public? Also are there walmarts close by or costco's? I dont want to be out too far in the boonies, but far away from the city and poverty/ghettos/ect.... Thanks. Oh is traffic bad during rush hour, or traffic bad in general??? thanks again..

Blue Springs is fine. I think the public schools in Blue Springs are fine too. The public schools in Johnson County (Shawnee Mission School District and Blue Valley School District) are great. There are Walmarts and Targets everywhere. Not sure where all the Sam's Club's are. There are 2 Costcos in Johnson County, one at 123rd and Metcalf and one in Lenexa at 95th and I-35. I don't know where the other Costcos are.

I only said it like that to illustrate how overly dramatic it was to say that Overland Park was so far away from downtown.

There's a Costco in southeast Independence on Valley View Parkway, as well as a Sam's Club by the Wal-Mart on 39th street.

lees summit is the only place I consider a suburb in Missouri unless you move to North kansas city which is north of downtown. In kansas the best place to me would be Overland Park or some parts of Olathe. Another good area is up and down stateline.

Ok so, Johnson County is good, and on the missouri side, Lee's summit and Blue Springs?? We're planning a trip out there to see if we like what we see, what time of year is good to go? We don't mind going when it's hot, just not when tornado warnings and rain is happening, or snow. So what months are ok to travel there?

That's like you talking about Barry Road and me saying - WELL LOOK HOW FAR DOWN IS FROM THE AIRPORT!!! Or from Platte City.

South JoCo is gardner and olathe... at least IMO. Why would you consider OP south JoCo?
OP KS is still 4-5 miles further then barry road...
Now MISSION, KS... is closer then barry to downtown.
