But even so, this is the kind of snow that's gone in a few days. Coming from a lifetime in Chicago, I have to say people in KC overreact to snow. Come on over here and I'll show you an old VHS tape of the 28" snowstorm we got in January about ten years ago. When you get that much snow, it can be a real hoot, and we had a ball that week.

And what you might consider to be cold -- I might think is balmy!

Winters in KC are a lot better than in Chicago -- a lot worse than California, and all you have to do is look at the stormy Southeast and the snowpacked Northeast to be grateful for this past winter in KC. We could have done without all the wind, but at least you don't have to shovel the wind.

I know it can be a lot worse and I wouldnt live anywhere where the weather was worse.

I got six inches at my house because I actually measured it with a ruler. I live up North off 169 Hwy near Metro North Mall.

I dont like any weather that can ruin plans. That means snow, rain, cold, wind, etc. I like being outdoors in shorts and sandals.

I had a huge day planned for Saturday and it really got hurt by the weather.

My preferred weather is rainy. i like summer days but not the humid summers we have in KC (tho last 2 years our summers have not been horribly humid as in the past) and just prefer a more fall/gray/rainy season....

KC weather seems to have changed a lot in the last 10-15 years... used to have worse winters and super hot summers.

As said, its just weird now, we had 60s the other week, 6 inches of snow this weekend and temps in the 10-20s... and now tomorrow its supposed to be in the 70s... wtf

We got over six inches over night last June 3rd. I remember because I was hustling to get something baked for a baby shower the next day and was afraid we might lose power (we didn't). I've never experienced rain like that, and neither did anyone else I talked to afterwards. We had been trying to get our landscaper to bury our downspouts and he hadn't gotten around to it, so we had a little water seep into the basement because the sump pump just got overloaded. Now that we've had the downspouts buried, I think we're okay, but we sure can do without any more of those 6" gully washers.

I don't like weather that can make me have to deal with insurance companies, roofers, construction companies or foundation people afterwards.

There is a solution - build earth contact homes or underground homes. Or dome homes.

People want their McMansions but don't want the problems that come with it.

Hahahaha, look what I just found. The more you read, the better it gets, especially that part that says if you predict no precipitation every day of the year, you'll be more accurate than our own forecasters:

The weather isn't anything to worry about. We have all kinds, but the truth is, precipitation is fairly minimal on a day-to-day basis.
We get a lot of our rain in downpours, and the average 20 inches of snow isn't really that much. Some of us would like more. If you're going to get cold and have winter, might as well go all the way with it. Around here, there's no skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing.. just cold, with the occasional snow. My biggest complaint.

When it does snow, the roads are usually only bad while it's snowing. When it stops, they get cleared pretty quickly.
Tornado season can be a bit unnerving, but I've never seen one, and haven't been affected by one. I work with a guy whose house was wiped out a few years ago.

Summers are hot and humid, but there's plenty of breaks in the worst heat, unlike places in the southeast, where the heat is relentless.

Wind.
Be prepared for wind. Lot's of wind.
Not a nice, clean, refreshing ocean breeze, but a dirty wind filled with dust, pollen, and who know what else.

I LOVE the wind. It's never seemed "dirty" to me at all.

Is there ANYPLACE to live that the weather couldn't potentially interfere with plans? You say you like rain - rain has ruined a lot of my plans. and then you say you want someplace 75 to 85 every day with no rain, wind or snow. So do you like rain or not?

I agree with the 75 to 85 every day with no rain or snow. I love wind, though, and if it's gonna be windy I like it to be a little warmer so I'm not chilled. A sunny 70 degree day with no wind is about perfect, but add wind or even a breeze and it's a little chilly to me. But I don't think anyplace exists that it's 75 to 85 every single day and never rains or snows.

The part about liking the rain wasnt my post. It was my error in quoting another poster.

I do not like percipitation at all.

Their are plenty of places you can live where weather wont impact your plans or very rarely do. San Diego, Miami, Southern Texas, Arizona, and more places down south.

I like warmth and heat. I love wearing sandals and shorts. I love boating, swimming, and being on the water. In Kansas City, I only get 3-4 months where I can be at the like and get the full experience. I want to live somewhere where I can go to the lake every single day of the year.

I like a light breeze that you can barely notice but will keep the sun from scorching you.
