Is it true.........?????????
That on the Kansas side they only make at a minimum wage job $2.65? If not what is the minimum wage there, and what is minimum wage on the Missouri/KC side? Here in Cali it's $8.00.

The minimum wage in CA is much higher then in other states but I would like to see proof of the $2 minimum wage. That sounds insane.

You can't have a minimum wage lower than the federal minimum wage -- which is $6.55 and is being raised to $7.25 this summer.
So no, that's entirely untrue.

Actually it is true, but it doesn't matter in the majority of cases.
It is $2.65... but it doesn't matter because the federal minimum wage supersedes the states... so I think KS has been like meh who cares, unless they ever decide to set their own minimum wage higher then the federal govts.
I think actually they just voted to raise it to $6.55. Missouri minimum wage is $7.05 but in July the fed govts $7.25 will then supersede it.

People who earn tips sometimes make less than the federal minimum in hourly wages. Could this be what you're thinking of? $2.65 sounds like it could be the hourly wage of someone waiting tables.

I think Samantha is right. Both my daughters work in restaurants and they have told me before that the minimum for wait staff is $2-something.

It used to be $2.13, but it's been a while and I wouldn't be surprised if that had changed. If servers don't average at least the federal minimum wage though, then the restaurant has to make up the difference.

I believe that's true, although I waited tables for years and that was never an issue. If I remember correctly (and if it's still done this way, cuz it's been a while) they calculate your "average wage" by adding 8% of your sales for the pay period divided by your hours, to your hourly rate.
On days when there was not enough business to allow us to average above minimum wage, they would just send people home.
