Default Waldo Pets Closing

Waldo Pet Center to close | Dollars & Sense

At the end of it, he states the corporate stores are what did them in.

Now i'm not a fan of big chains, I'm not against them either, I just want them to not consume everything and be the ONLY place... but i'm not sure I buy this.

Corporate chains like petco and petsmart, do not have the selection waldo pets did. Waldo carried a wide variety of unique reptiles, fish, invertebrae, etc... in addition to the normal stuff pet stores have. They were unique, decent priced, and had a pretty big supply.

its not like you see a petco and petsmart on every corner... and their products aren't cheap or anything...

just wondering what others thoughts are on this? I always loved going to waldo pets so i'm gonna miss it, but i haven't been there in years since I don't live as close as I used too..

I didnt go there often because it is out of my way but it was a good store.

I plan to own my own pet store one day and it is sad to see one like that go.

I use to work at Petco and it isnt a terrible company but I wouldnt recommend buying an animal there over a locally owned store.

Brothers Pets is still near the old Blue Ridge Mall area. He moved just north on Sterling, right under the bridge in that small strip center. Brothers is comparable to Waldo Pets. When I worked at Brothers if we didn't have what someone was looking for we always sent them to Waldo.
