Kansas City or Cincinnati
Hi. I am looking for a place to go to college. I want to go to the AI institute for culinary arts. I am from East St. Louis, and the closest AI institutes are in Cincinnati, Chicago, and Kansas City. I don't like Chicago that much, so that leaves KC and Cincinnati. I am just curious as to which city would be better to live in. Thanks!

Really? Way to back up your answers with rock solid info! CINCY!
I like Cincy, but don't know enough about it to really compare it to KC in the way you are asking. Might be best to post in the Ohio forums as well as Missouri.
But KC is very well known as a strong arts city. The KC Art Institute, the Nelson Atkins, Kemper, the Crossroads Arts District, the Metropolitan Performing Arts Center, the city's 1% for art program etc.
Again, I can't tell you in detail what Cincy offers, but when it comes to the arts scene, I think that KC compares to cities much bigger than KC so I'm sure KC would give Cincy a run for its money, whatever that city may offer.

I also have no clue about Cincinnati.
I googled a bit. The Art Institute of Cincinnati has only been around since 1976 where as KCAI was established in 1885 so nearly 100 years older.
Cincinnati Art Institute is a 2 year school. KCAI is a 4 year school.
KCAI is ranked in the top 10 Art schools in the nation.
---------
Ahhhh all that said though and KCAI has nothing for Culinary arts. Leaving you:
Home: The Art Institutes International - Kansas City
Which appears to be the exact same thing as what is in Cincinnati. So at that point you need to consider which city you like better.
If you want to be close to STL, KC is a +. Other then that I just don't know, the cities appears to be similiar in population size.
What are you looking for in a city? I'd post that in this forum and Cincinnati and see what you find, because the schools themselves look to be the same.

Yep, I'd just base it on what you prefer in a city, since the programs really aren't any different. I've visited family in Cincinnati, but I can't say I've soaked up enough in it to feel like I have a good grip on the character of the city. KC, I know, though.

I have been to Cincinnati many times and I just get a positive vibe from some of the areas closer to there Downtown. Many of the historic houses are well maintained, but of course very neighborhood dependent. skrazzle is right in the fact that KC has an older and more well established Art Institute. I guess it really comes down to whether you prefer a Midwestern city like Cincinnati with a more eastern flavor or a Midwest/Plains city like KC with more of a western flavor. I would visit both cities and scrutinize the positives and negatives before deciding.

Well, some of the things I look for in a city are safety, transportation, cleanliness, and affordability. Which is safer? Which has worse traffic? Which city is cleaner? Which city could I get more for my money? Thanks!

I doubt there's huge differences in those categories. Kansas City is dirt cheap for a big city, and traffic is almost a non-issue. I don't know that one is drastically safer or cleaner than the other.
I'd look at the more subtle cultural differences if you plan to be in the area for an extended amount of time.

Cincy and KC are very similar in size, traffic, cleanliness, racial issues, crime, transit etc.
I would say spend a weekend in each city and try to take them in and get a feel for them.
