Default Moving to Lee's Summit

I will be relocating from Jackson, Mississippi to Lee's Summit, Missouri in the next couple of months. I would greatly appreciate any information on the Lee' Summit high schools. I will also be temporarily renting and would like any information regarding housing in the high school districts.

Thank you.

If you are renting, you are in luck! There are AMLI apartments near the most recent High School in Lee's Summit.

The school district's website can be found at:

www leesummit dot k12 dot mo dot edu

I have known several teachers who have stayed in the district for 16+ years! That should tell you something about how the school's administration treats their teachers.

Thanks,
Ronda Marchant

I am looking at relocating from Hot Springs Arkansas to Lee's Summit, and was wondering what the area is like. I have a wife two kid. We like the out doors, fishing (FLW Member), hunting, camping, etc. What is the quality of life like?
What is the weather like, my wife thinks of Tornados when we talk about Lee’s Summit since it is close to Kansas City.

Lee's Summit is a suburb of Kansas City. It looks and feels very much like a typical suburb. It does have a really neat little downtown area. It's one of the top-rated places in the country to raise a family, according to some surveys.
There's several lakes that are actually in the metropolitan area. Lee's Summit has the James A. Reed conservation area. It has fishing and hunting there.
Some of the other lakes offer camping as well.
It's not far from the northern part of the Ozarks.
I lived in Little Rock for a few years, and while there seems to be more severe weather in KC, I think the biggest difference would be the winters. It gets quite a bit colder, with a bit more snow. I personally don't think that there's a dramatic difference in tornado activity, since Arkansas is pretty well known for them as well.

Thank you.

Lee's Summit has some of the best schools anywhere. As for housing, there seems to be plenty although it's a bit overpriced I think.

It's one of the best areas in the Kansas City area. Good schools, little crime, and very good fishing. Lake Jacomo is a very good Crappie/White Bass lake, Blue Springs Lake is very good for Catfish. Then there's the Missouri River for Catfish. James Reed Conservation area has several small lakes that are stocked and heavily polices & regulated. One of them is stocked with Trout.
