Default Shared Driveways in Brookside

Hey there, I've usually been on the other side of the questions, but now I have one of my own. My soon-to-be wife and I are looking at homes in the Brookside area and found one that we love. One of the quirks about Brookside is that two homes will often share one driveway. I have no problem with that (we actually found one with two garages!) but the only negative I see with the property is that the driveway is in very poor condition and should be replaced.

How do you go about replacing a shared driveway? Do you just ask your neighbor to split the cost 50-50? Do you have to do something else? Just curious.

Thanks everyone!
