Default Westport to Overland Park: How's the commute?

As I look for jobs, there might be something for me in Overland Park. However, if I am going to move to a big city, I am going to live in the city. I don't want to live in the burbs.

Can somebody give me a rough idea what it would be like from Westport to Overland Park? Google maps says about 19 minutes, but that's only based on distance. What is the traffic like.

Thanks

Overland Park is a large, sprawling place. You can technically be in OP in about 5-10 minutes, but that's just the northern part of town. Most likely, a job will be in the southern sections of town where there's a lot of corporate headquarters and such. You should be able to get there well within 30 minutes. Everything is in a grid pattern, so finding alternate routes is very easy.

Depends on where you're going. My SO used to regularly get from the Plaza to Olathe in 30 min, before we moved. But, he, too, is an "I'd rather live in the city than the suburbs, even if I have to work in the suburbs" person. Traffic is generally not a big hindrance if there are no wrecks.
