It really depends if you want to consider other suburban areas besides JOCO. The Northland (Platte and Clay counties) would probably offer better value for your housing dollar along with a shorter commute. Most developments in Platte and Clay counties have a Kansas City, MO address but are very suburban in nature with a plethora of price points and housing stock to choose from.
The commute from areas south of I-435 and east of 69 in JOCO would probably be 35 minutes dependent on traffic. The further east you go in JOCO the higher the housing values for the most part. Also, that area (Leawood) is extremely upscale with a lot of custom builds.
