Default Best Comeback Neighborhood in KC

What's the best revitalized neighborhood in KC or neighborhood currently undergoing revitalization? Any places with great vibe, local shops, and homeowners fixing up houses?

Hmm, maybe Dogpatch in NE KCMO or Marlborough in SE KCMO? Just kidding, those places could use some revitalization though. Anyhow, to seriously answer your question I would say the West Side, Troost (30 to 50 Blocks?) and maybe Columbus Park to an extent.

The West Side really wasn't in decline in the first place though so I'm not sure if I'd call it revitalization though there are a lot of "urban pioneers" moving into the area. It's still a pretty tight knit, kind of lively mostly Mexican American neighborhood (was heavily Irish years, many years ago). They're are some trendy restaurants going in, a lot of yuppies and artist/hipster types living in the area closer to Broadway. It will be kind of interesting to see how it turns out. I actually like that area.

Columbus Park has kind of the same thing going on but on a smaller scale maybe? It's also ethnic, mostly Vietnamese with maybe a smattering of the old Italian's left. Same deal as West Side, some yuppie's moving into new or restored developments + some art kids that have been there in small numbers for quite awhile actually. Again, this a pretty neat neighborhood but it really wasn't in decline to begin with.

Troost, from the 30 blocks down to the 50 blocks in parts is starting to experience some "revitalization" you could say. There are some new shops going in, etc. I've know "punk" kids and some hipster types that have been in the area for more than a few years actually because of the cheap rents and the fact that they could have raucous parties without many complaints, etc. It does look like this part of Troost may see some actual improvement or change at least. Definitely needs the attention more than the West Side or Columbus Park as those areas were fairly solid to begin with.
