Default moving to KC from St. Louis

I am moving from STL to KC very soon for a new job. This last weekend I looked at two apartment complexes in the KC North/Northland area -- Madison at Walnut Creek (NE Parvin Rd 64116) and The Ethans (off NW Barry Rd 64118). I have lived in the suburbs (south) in St. Louis, and would like to live in the suburbs in KC. I have been told that the north part of KC is nice, and after visiting both of these complexes, they both do seem very nice visually. However, I would like some opinions about these two complexes, and also the area/neighborhood they are in as far as crime/safety.

Any help would be appreciated.

My mom and sister both live in the Ethans. They are nice apartments that are well taken care of.

The one issue with the apartments right there is that there is like 5 complexes all packed together. So, this is very appealing to robbers. Those complexes get a lot of break-ins because since there is so many apartments, no one can really tell who is suppose to be there or not.

I lived in the apartments right next door to the Ethans about 6 years ago and got broken into the 2nd week I lived there. Several dozen apartments were hit that same day.

Another factor to consider when apartment-hunting: proximity to interstates or major highways. Robbers prefer complexes close to highway exits, enabling quick getaways. I believe the Ethans complex is close to the US-169/Barry Rd junction?

Personally, I would look at the I-29 corridor first, then the 169 corridor.

Madison at Walnut Creek is pretty nice, i've never lived there but looked at it before. Another really nice place is Barrewoods (Barrewoods | An ePartment Community | Our Mission)

Or if you want to be in the burbs, but in the middle of a pretty nice place that is walkable and close to the interstate and a ton of things, the apartments at Zona Rosa are very nice: Living At Zona Rosa :: Home
