So if you take your strip malls and turn them around so that they face each other, you instantly have an "intimate shopping district."
Okey dokey then ...

So they face each other, throw a park in there, throw in the festivals and whatever that they normally have (art one not long ago, I think a beer one the other weekend), throw in a couple residential buildings in it....
yeah this becomes a place where people work, live, and play.... it's definitely not huge or as expansive as the plaza... but hell yeah it's 1000 times better then some strip malls.

Okay, so you are comparing the whole of ZR to the stores that sit on the NW corner of 119th and Roe. I was comparing ZR to that plus a 2-3 block radius of that corner. Where pretty much everything you mentioned can be found.
If we are limiting to just a comparison of shopping, then both of them are pretty much strip malls to me.
I agree that ZR is laid out differently and I'm sure many people really like it. They must! ZR draws from a long distance. To me shopping is shopping as long as I can find what I want.
<shrug>
I still maintain that neither comes close to the charm of CC Plaza (there's just something about it!) but that's just me.

Yep, you're right. Town Center Plaza and Zona Rosa are exactly the same.
I will remember that as I enjoy predrinks at my friends loft in Zona Rosa and walk down to the street at 11PM and enjoy the active nightlife that includes several bars with live music this coming Saturday night. I will suggest that maybe next time we should go Town Center Plaza next time so we can enjoy the same thing.
Oh wait, that doesnt happen there. Oh, well.

Oh for pete's sake. I already agreed with you several times that there are differences.
What I said was that TC and ZR were more like each other than either is like CC Plaza. That's all. Jeesh!
You may very well consider ZR a "better" shopping district, lifestyle utopia, or whatever ... I'm sure lots of people like it better than TC.
It's like a little slice of heaven .... really!
Except to me, it's just a place to shop. I rarely go to bars with live music and I have no desire to live in a loft in the middle of "Xanadu". So to me, they are more alike than different.
ZR is catering to a wider demographic, I agree with you. But TC is more than just a plop of stores on one corner though. It has many of the things within walking distance that you described above - (although I'm sure they are not nearly as cool as they are in ZR.) I just don't think it's accurate to describe the TC area as a "strip mall."
But, whatever. Please continue to enjoy ZR's many amenities.

That's my entire point. That is wrong. Zona Rosa is a minature plaza. It was intentionally built that way. It has shops, lofts, dining, bars, and events just like the plaza. It's just on a smaller scale. That makes it more closely similar to the plaza than TC because TC is some shops with some restaurants thrown in. There is no lofts, no bars, or no festivals.
I attended a 10PM movie at TC one time and when I came out at 11:30, you could hear crickets. At 11:30 at Zona Rosa or the plaza there will be a lot of people walking around even in the middle of winter.

I never said Zona Rosa was better, just that it is a different from Town Center and more closely resembles the Plaza.

How about we compromise and agree that ZR wants to be like CC Plaza?
And is trying really hard?
I think it's a great shopping center, and I'm sure people in the Northland love it.
It's my humble opinion that it misses being CC Plaza by about 20 miles. But I'll give it props for trying!
