As for the coffee, it's a matter of taste. If you prefer high octane and full bodied coffees like you get at Starbucks, you probably won't be impressed with DD coffee. The color alone will tell you that -- DD coffee is a much paler brown.

Yes, I like high octane coffee - espresso, in fact. I like it so strong that (TMI warning) that my pee smells like coffee . Every time I'm in Lawrence (which isn't too often), I try to remind myself to stop at Dunkin Donuts (since it's the only one within driving distance of KC for the time being) and get a cup but I either forget or don't have time or something.

DD serves brewed coffee. Not espresso-based drinks. Apples and oranges.

I realize that. I drink coffee too. But I prefer espresso.

ROFLOLOL!!! That sounds vaguely familiar, Luzianne! We get espresso roast and brew it -- strong. M-m-m-m-m.

Now, let me update you on my donut preference. I got a dozen Krispy Kremes on the way to visit friends this morning. Four of the 12 were creme filled chocolate iced donuts. THEY WERE AWFUL. The filling was just some horrid sugary white mess. I was expecting the wonderful yellow creamy custard and fudgey chocolately icing you get with the Dunkin' Donuts Boston Cream donut -- but this was nothing like that. This was vile. The filling seemed fake.

So when DD opens up -- my advice is to try their Boston Cream donuts -- you will be HOOKED.

I will try the Boston Cream! I like Krispy Kreme's blueberry glazed doughnuts. But Lamar's is still the best in KC. Have you tried Lamar's? Although they were better then they only had one location down on Linwood and the doughnuts were still warm when you picked them up. Now that they've expanded, they're not as good. Isn't that always the case?

You will, believe me. I was same way, thought that it's good. Not even close what I was expecting.

I did have the blueberry glazed, and it was good, butmostly it was just sweeeeet. Too sweet. The pumpkin spice was delicious. Oops, I think I just confessed to eating three donuts! But I raked leaves all morning, so I'm excused!
