Catholic elementary schools for kids living in Brookside
We will be moving to KC next year, and I like everything I've heard about Brookside. Our kids go to Catholic school now, and we'd like to continue that after the move. Where do the kids living in this area go? I understand the KCMO district is terrible, so I assume there are both Catholic and other private schools to choose from. Ideally, I would like the kids to be able to walk to school.

Brookside is home to several Catholic schools. The website listed below will provide you with much information. Schools and churches are listed under the community link.

I work with kids who are Brookside residents who attend St. Peter's, I privately tutor them and the curriculum's fairly rigorous. It's not walkable from where they live, however.

St. Peter's is a wonderful school. Visitation isn't too far from the area either.

If you choose the Ward Park neighborhood (W. of Brookside) St. Elizabeth's is another option:

I hear good things about St Peter's. We know quite a few families whose kids go there. It is usually St Peter's or Academie Lafayette for most Brookside families. There is also St. Elizabeth a little further south, but I beleive it is an older school with a great reputation. A little further east is Notre Dame de Sion.

Thanks everybody for all the good info. I'm in KC checking out neighborhoods now. Brookside is more suburban than I expected, but still looks like a nice place to live.

Yes, I beleive Brookside is often credited with being the model for the modern day suburb.

JBABC -- We are also moving to KC next year and leaning toward Brookside. We haven't found any neighborhoods that are comparable. Would be interested in the neighborhoods you checked out and your thoughts. Thanks!
