Just posting this so the KC Star will wake up!

When you desire to leave a comment on an article on the KC Star website you must be registered. Part of the registration is that you must designate your state and Missouri is NOT a choice.

WAKE UP kc Star

The also do not have an easy way to contact them. I didn't notice it anyway!

dude, don't do it! Stay as far away from those KC Star Comments as you possibly can. The people that leave most of those comments are the most god awful bunch or morons you could ever imagine, negative, crude and totally clueless. Most of them hate KCMO and Missouri too (KS side people). I avoid those comments like the plague, when I do read them, it makes me sad that I'm from KC.

Stay away, it's not worth it .

Paranoid much?

Missouri is listed first on the list of states when you register, probably so as to make it convenient for you. It's a Missouri newspaper, why wouldn't they want comments from Missourians?

And thanks kcmo, for that very predictable "KS people hate MO" comment. Ever heard the one about the kettle and the pot ... ???

KCMO's comments nowithstanding, yes, the comments section at the Star will usually make you much dumber for having read it. You can usually guarantee at least 1-2 egregiously racist comments.

We have the same problem with the STL Post Dispatch commenters. Absolutely the bottom feeders of mankind.

I'd also point out that the Star's webpage format is controlled by McClatchy Newspapers, not the Star itself. Look around at any other McClatchy paper - Lexington Herald, Sacramento Bee, Charlotte Observer - they are exactly the same in format.
