So let me get this straight. You consider being able to buy liquor anytime you want a positive. So your vice is being able to drink when you want and it bothers you when laws restrict you from being able to do that. Since you are a adult.

You also state that smoking is something you don not do. And state that if you want to be in the 21st century well it needs to be banned.

Here in Missouri you can smoke and buy liq etc in a casino. Why? Because casinos are a huge cash cow for the state and they do not want to lose the revenue.

Im not for or against smoking or drinking. I used to do both. I am for a citizens choice to go where they want and not have gov dictating what your choices are and then blatently showing favortisim as with the casinos.

I have been in close to 200 cities in the past 2.5 years and I can say with certainty that people do not like the smoking bans. A lot comes down to having a law shoved down your throat that does not reflect the mood of the masses.

Prohibition in the 30s is a perfect example of it.

If you wanted to use the same logic with liquor laws Im sure your view would differ.

I would say that from dealing with a large group of coloradians you are also in the minority there. Well except for Boulder

I guess you have never been to NY or CA. the majority of people love no-smoking in those states, but then again more people lead healthier lifestyles

Hmm Ca and Ny. They also have some of the strictest gun laws in the country and the highest crime rates with guns. You also can get a ticket in Ca if you are smoking in your car with your kid but you can buy pot in vending machines at " approved locations for medicinal purposes only " wink, wink. In New York if you are sitting outside on a patio table you can't smoke but you can walk around a outside gate about 2 feet and its legal?

Healthy life style is cool. But it should not be regulated by the government.

And again its a minority not a majority. If smoking was the tobacco companies wouldnt exist.

But hey all the smog in LA does make for healther lifestyle. And we won't even mention the Hudson.

They all exempt casinos.

Raytown, Riverside and Smithville all rejected smoking bans.

Missouri has some of the most liberal alcohol laws in the US, thanks to Anheuser Busch. Bars can be open til 3am and liquor can be sold in grocery stores. Kansas has some really stupid liquor laws. Until recently, Sunday sales were banned. You can't sell non-alcohol products in a liquor store, and you can't sell liquor in a grocery store or convenience store. Comes from being the home of Carry Nation.
Many cities in Kansas have banned smoking, but the statewide law doesn't go into effect until July 1st of this year. Kansas is a highly republican state...so much for little government intervention

All public places? Surely that isn't true. Such as, lighting up in Shawnee Mission Park will now be illegal? Or is it all indoor public places?

r
An overwhelming number of polls show people support bans on smoking in indoor public areas. If it wasn't popular, legislators wouldn't be passing it everywhere, in liberal states and conservative states.

St. Louis City will be smoke-free except:

Casino gaming floors and VIP lounges are exempted indefinitely.

Private clubs with no employees (what is this, like a 4:20 club?), tobaccos stores, designated hotel/motel smoking rooms, private residences (makes sense) and outdoor areas are exempted indefinitely.

And here's my favorite one:

Bars in existence on 1/2/2011 that are less than 2000 square feet - i.e. the dives and ****hole bars scattered across the area that proudly serve Busch on tap and month-old popcorn - are exempt until 1/2/2016!

So, STL City will almost be smoke-free, but's it definitely a step in the right direction.
