That's a vampire bat.... They are larger than your everyday bat... If you saw it during the day it must really need some blood... At least you didn't see it coming thru your bedroom window in the middle of the night..

"Looks like a stick bird to me!" Nice

A bat is what it looked like. I've seen bats but not this big.

To my amazement out flew this huge bird. I didn't get a good look at him but did see his silhouette as he flew away from me.
It looked like a bird out of prehistoric times.

The first bird I thought of was the great blue heron. It kind of looks prehistoric, it definitely is huge - but it doesn't look like a bat.

My second thought was the double-crested cormorant. Look for some photos of that one. Big, prehistoric-looking, dark like a bat.

Boy, it sure does look like the double-crested cormorant, although I don't think they come here. May have been migrating...TY

It was around 7am this morning- just getting light.
There's a tree outside of the back door.
I walked out the back door, stood there for a minute and heard this rustling and thrashing around in the tree above me. Thinking it was 2 birds fighting- you know how they do, they chase each other and rustle in the tree for a moment, I didn't give it a thought.

It looked like a bird out of prehistoric times. LOL, I'm serious, that's what it looked like to me.
After searching for birds in flight silhouettes and not finding anything I'll ask here.
His silhouette kind of looked like a huge bat or something.

Does it look like this big bird? Maybe he and family migrated from Jurassic Park to Overland Park.
