So, you decided to go overboard and rail about meth, narrow-mindedness, blah blah blah....gosh, just this morning I found 3 dead hookers on my driveway and had to fight off 2 zombies and a werewolf that had come to feed on the remains.

Seriously though, I find the KC area to have a nice mix of big city and small town....no place is perfect but I like the short commutes, good schools and low cost of living. The KC metro area has some good and bad areas....but in general I think they do a fine job.

Mathguy, you can't deny that places like Spendapendence, Twinkapendence, it goes by a bunch of names (Independace), Ottawa, Emporia, Topeka, &c are not rampant with drugs (mostly meth). Really most places you would stay you would be fine.

I absolutely can't deny what you just wrote because it would require me being able to understand it first.

I don't understand why say the taxes are so friggen high - You wanna talk high taxes, move to NY. I owned a home in Kansas and I thought the taxes were not that bad. Maybe Wichita and the surrounding cities might be higher from where I lived, but I have to say - it's purdy cheap, cheaper then other states I have lived in. Which would be 4 others.

The only thing I hated - was the personal property tax Kansas has -

Where I am now, the taxes are much higher. What I bought my house for in Kansas would be at least 450k where I am now. I'm owning a smaller house and my taxes are much, much higher. Sales tax is the only thing cheaper for me right now.......

The problem I had with Kansas as a whole, the quality of life for me was non existent. I found it to be a fairly cheap place to live.

The area is that of a medium sized city, probably similar to Atlanta in that regard. It is not so big that you cannot get out to nature quite easily.
Snakes and spiders....very very rare....probably about the same or less risk than when you lived in Atlanta or TX. You are just as likely to get hit by lighting.

Cost of living is generally low relative to many parts of the US.

That's about all I can tell you unless you ask more specific questions.

I just moved to Kansas from Texas and all I can say is STAY AWAY!!!!! The cost of living is MUCH higher, taxes are MUCH HIGHER, costs of houses are MUCH HIGHER, food prices are MUCH HIGHER & you have to pay taxes on food!!!!!!, plus the crime rates around Wichita are MUCH HIGHER, with a TON of gang activity, and the schools among the worst in the nation, with the exception of a few. I'm getting out asap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
