Default How is the cost of living in Topeka area?

I am (hopefully) close to getting a job in Topeka. I must admit I've never been there before and I'm curious about the area. What else can you tell me in general about life in Topeka? Thanks.

The best areas are the west and far north sides of town. Out by Wanamaker is a nice area. I would recommend Lawrence over Topeka if you like all of the activities, events, and culture of a college town. Lawrence is a short drive from Topeka. The cost of living is lower, but Kansas is not a low tax state by any stretch of the imagination. Lawrence would have a somewhat higher COL than Topeka, but is worth it.

We stayed in Topeka for awhile a few years ago and our son lived there for some time. I think Topeka is nice if you know where to stay away from. We liked the zoo and the museum and prices seemed reasonable. It was easy to get around the city also. I thought it was typical of most state capitols that I had visited. My son really enjoyed living there but left for active duty military service.

Default Why Topeka

I would ask, What are you wanting out of Topeka, what are your expectations. I like Topeka and have been here for over 10 years, I have lived alot of other places from farm to Big city. Topeka and the area has alot to offer but again, It would be nice to know what you expect.
