I live in Nebraska but I go to within a short drive from Lawrence where Tuttle Creek and Milford reservoirs offer great fishing and other water sports activities. No surfing like California but take along a wind surf board and a pair of water skis along with the fishing pole. If you are one who enjoys People.Eating.Tasty. Animals you will find some great bird and deer hunting within biking distance of Lawrence. Try something different. If you are in to motor sports Topeka and Kansas City offer great racing. You might like it. I am an old phart now but even during my twenties this area was on my list of places to go.

Gunluvver you are confusing Lawrence with Manhattan, KS. Substitute "Clinton" and "Perry" for Tuttle Creek and Milford.

Yes Manhattan is closer to Tuttle Creek and Milford but it is still a fairly short drive from Lawrence. A lot of folks from as far away as KC,MO and Witchita go there on weekends along with many Nebraskans. I haven't visited Clinton or Perry but thanks for the heads up on them. I will add them to my list. I have visited a lot of the lakes in Kansas and there are some great fishing spots. Wilson Lake, Glen Elder, Beloit and Norton farther West are high on my list also.
