Kansas in general is a melting pot of People and Religion. I grew up here and just moved back.
I lived in OP and then and I bought a house in OP this time too. We are very liberal ourselves but I have never really seen any act of unkindness toward anyone for race...coloe or Religion here.
The hispanic community is growing by leaps and bounds here I think. All the stores and what they carry reflect that and other races as well. I dont think you or your children will ever see or have any problems with your race in Opks...or Joco ks. And actually I would say most anywhere in the KC area. We are very excepting people of many cutures I think.
