Default Driving through Kansas in two weeks

Hi Everyone,

My husband and I are moving from Utah to Kentucky in two weeks, and will be spending a couple of days in Kansas on our way there. Our planned route is along I70 but we'd be willing to go out of the way for some cool/unique sights. Neither of us have been to Kansas. If anyone has any suggestions of things we shouldn't miss, please share

Thanks!

Just go to the website for tourism in Kansas. There are alot of things to see. Some that no one would have thought of, and some of the prettiest areas around. I live in Kansas so I am proud to say that any of the sights you want to see are great.

At Abilene, Kansas which is on I-70 has the Old Abilene Town. Which is fun, it also has the greyhound musume (spelled wrong). But as I said you best bet is to look on the website for places to see and visit.

I hope you have a great time while in the state.

Post Tourism

If you travel along I-70 make sure that you visit the Konza Praire Preserve south of Manhattan. This is in the Flint Hills. Other interesting areas would be Abilene, and the Smoky Hills region of Kansas. This area is in northwest Kansas generally north of I-70. You will see some interesting scenery in northern Ellis County north of Hays and Osborne County as well. The landscape in this area takes on a more western flavor with a short grass prairie and butte topography. Also, make sure to be careful driving when the strong winds occur!

Well, I would have suggested going 54 through Dodge City and Greensburg, but since Greensburg isn't really there at the moment, you wouldn't see much. You can still see through the viewport down into the Big Well, but the museum that the Space Wonderer was in, and the access into the Well both got destroyed in the tornado.
