1. Many people from OP are quite certain that they are better than anyone from KC side,Olathe,Lenexa,and KCKS. People from Prairie Village Ks, Leawood and Mission Hills are quite certain that they are better than everyone else and everone else is trash including anyone from OP. KC offers Chiefs,Royals, Plaza shopping district. Kansas City fountains. Crown Center and the list goes on and on.
Overland Park has ample shopping, fair roads, lot's of houses etc. No really big name anything except people that think they are better than most.

Honey, why are you so bitter?

I live in Lenexa, been here for over 20 years. Now of course I am a Native Texan so I know I am a leg up on everyone because of that but I have never got the impression that anyone here was any better than me.

It could be that I don't pay much attention to that. I have a pretty high self-esteem and what others think of me doesn't really make me stay up at night.

I think that many of the folks here have more debt than I do because I don't live outside of my means. I don't think that people are as friendly here as in Texas, I actually find most pretty sullen and sad and worried about what others think.

Maybe you need to look at yourself and figure out why you are worried about what others are thinking, who gives a rats patoot.

I moved to O.P. from Independence MO in 1969 and I've never noticed that about the people around here with the exception of a few in Leawood maybe.

I don't really give a rats patoot what anyone thinks anyway. I really don't think i am bitter at all. I am just coming to the defense of my City and state in general. You haven't seen anyone else step up to the plate have you?
As you stated you think people from Overland Park are mostly pretty sullen and sad and worried what others are thinking. I think OP is a great place for them. We sure don't need people like that in Mo; although i am sure there are many here as well.
I will say that it does rub me the wrong way when people from Ks overall diss Kansas City and come across the line to enjoy all that we have to offer.
Kansas City is known as the city of Fountains and many think Overland Park is the city of wanna be hoity toities!

I have lived in JOCO for 12 years and first-hand have heard from just a few people in this county who think they're better than anyone else. That being said, these same people would be "stuck up" no matter where they lived. And those types of personalities I don't have any interest in being around. I much prefer to mingle with the MAJORITY of residents in JOCO, or anywhere else for that matter, than those who have their head up their "you know what".

JOCO is a wonderful place to live as far as I'm concerned, and having lived in several other states, can confidently attest that this entire area has some of the nicest people I've ever associated with; and I include all of KS, MO, IA, NE...not just JOCO.

We often have visitors at our company from out of area, and/or state, who compliment the down-to-earth attitudes of people in this area.

Every place on earth has it's good and bad; and I choose to stay away from the bad.

Which town has the best reputaion for schools? We were lookingat Oalthe, but I noticed some schools were not as rated as well as over land park schools. ALso is there county tax? what about city tax?

Overland Park students attend one of two districts, Shawnee Mission or Blue Valley. Blue Valley schools are considered the better of the two.
