I guess "crappy concerts" is a subjective thing.

I dunno, I'd use the Wichita airport rather than KC more often, but usually the prices in and out of Wichita are more expensive than KC, a lot more.

I still think that Wichita isn't that bad, but then I don't have to live there. I like the mall on Rock Road, and there is a lot of retail.

I think one mistake towns make is looking at the wrong towns to emulate, like when Emporians a few years ago were looking at Overland Park to see how they should go. Ridiculous, of course. Emporia has its own flavor and they should be capitalizing on that.

Same with Wichita. See what makes good sense for supporting the city financially, while at the same time having a good standard of living for the inhabitants, and keeping crime down. Then push the arts and high paying industry.

Well, there's a lot more to it than that, I'm sure. I just hate to see a city get totally reamed.

Janet

If any city deserves to get reamed it has to be Wichita, Kansas....and I'm a born and bred native of Wichita so I'm not picking on anyone else's city.

The sad thing is...the people who need to be reading this forum surely aren't....they're too busy reading their Bibles. (and yes, I'm a practicing Catholic).

One thing for sure that this vote has done is to put a big divide in this community.
I don't see this going away anytime soon. Lots of feelings were hurt. Lots of false statements and comments. I have friends that refuse to go back to church now because of the emotion that is still very strong.
I have not yet gone back either. Time will tell. So sad that the churches stepped over the line here and got involved in state issues. No one dares question it.

Once again many people in Wichita FAIL to realize that they need to VOTE for their own economic self-interests and the economic well-being of the WHOLE Wichita metro. That is all I am going to say regarding the no vote for the casino.

I also laugh when I hear people say that Wichita IS NOT the bible belt. HAHA. Wichita is at the same latitude as Richmond, VA. That should say a little right there.

Wsucks is on a distinguished road
We in Arkansas just beat back the bible thumpers, they tried to get the gaming taken out of oak lawn and w. memphis, they took it to the sup. court, and lost. Chalk one up for the people with comon sence.
Wichita is lost any chance it had of turning into a town like kansas city.
I looked at moving there a couple of months ago, and we decided after a month of driving in the crime riden wichita proper area, that it was no place to live.
I rode around with a real estate agent for a month looking and I loved some of the old vic's near coll, hill area and the like, even though they were in good areas, she would show me on every home, where there was evidence of break ins, she said No one moves to wichita by choice and she would not live there, she instead recomended Andover, rose hill, goddard, or durby, but she said you will never get your money back from a home in wichita. Dollar for dollar wichita is a looser.
For those thinking of moving there if you have to at least move to andover, homes and crime are much better.

I don't know much about Wichita other than I have driven through it many times. Something definitely needs to happen as far as development. It really does look as if the city is old and has run it's course. Good luck i guess.

wonderkind is an unknown quantity at this point
Big city small minds = stagnation.
I have seen first hand the ghost like empty streets of down town wichita during the middle of the day in old town and the surrounding areas.
The only thing bussy is kellog st on morn. and night rush hour.
There is only areas of one stage or another of urban disintigration, This is what you get when you try to use a 2k year old book that never had any good advice to run your life.
